Evil Wreckoning

What we love:
Upon logging some serious hours on this bike, there is no denying it's in a league of it's own. We like to call it the "mistake eraser" - it's one of those bikes that simply feels like cheating. It's a wild ride and an all-out destroyer.

Evil Calling

What we love:
If any bike embodies the over-used term "playful" it's the Calling. It's a bike that loves to play in the woods just as much as you do. It also has a dual personality, with the ability to run 26"-plus tires up to 2.8", as well as 27.5" tires up to 2.5". As with all Evil bikes, it's hard not to have a good time.

Evil Insurgent

What we love:
Not sold on 29" wheels, but still want a monster-truck trail bike? The Insurgent fits the bill nicely. Similar to it's bigger brother, the Wreckoning, but a bit more nimble due to the shorter travel and smaller wheels.

Ibis Ripley LS

What we love:
It's a unanimous conclusion here at Fanatik: the Ripley LS is one of most well-balanced 29'er trail bikes we've had the pleasure of riding. It's not crazy aggressive, but it's not too tame either. It's a fantastic climber, and is more than adequate on the descents as well.

Ibis Mojo 3

What we love:
Although this bike can accommodate both 27.5" and 27.5" plus tires, we find the Mojo 3 offers the most with plus tires. It's a bike that bolsters confidence in those of us mere-mortals by offering huge amounts of traction, and the extra forgiveness that comes with running plus tires at low pressure.

Knolly Warden

What we love:
The supercar of mountain bikes best describes the Warden Carbon. It's a bike that has been so painstakingly designed and built, it's a wonder how it even saw the light of day. And it's not just the build of this frame that screams quality - the bike's handling and suspension feel are second-to-none.

Devinci Marshall

What we love:
Despite it's seemingly modest amount of travel and somewhat reserved geometry, the Marshall Carbon is a bike that is full of surprises. It's surprisingly capable, and quite jumpy - and we don't mean jumpy in the skittish sense, we mean jumpy in the playful, pop-off-everything sense.

Santa Cruz Hightower

What we love:
A switchblade of a bike, the Hightower can be run with either 27.5+" wheels or 29", and features easily adjustable geometry that supports both sizes. This bike excels on the types of trails that most of us ride day in and out, and is exceptionally capable without being overkill.

Juliana Roubion

What we love:
Fanatik team rider/racer Dawn Fidler claims the Rubion is "dreamy". Although she doesn't own one, she is in the market for a new bike, so she took this bike out of our demo fleet for a spin. Climbing, the bike feels responsive and it glides over those nasty roots that we're known for here in the PNW. After a day on the Rubion, Dawn is quite sure that this bike is at the top of her list!

Norco Sight

What we love:
The Sight is efficient enough to pedal with your XC bud's, but can still shred downhill. It's A.R.T. suspension design delivers a lively and planted feel over a variety of terrain. Also, Norco supports increasing the stock travel up front by 10mm, making the Sight an extremely capable descender for its class.

Dakine

Derail Short

The Derail short is lightweight and comfortable. The pockets are well placed and the overall fit is excellent. The waist sizing may be just a hair on the small side so keep that in mind when picking out a new pair.

Dakine

Hotlaps Pack

The Dakine Hotlaps hip pack is a must have. Small and lightweight, it fits well around your waist and doesn't hinder movement. It is my go to pack for most 1-2 hour rides-one water bottle, a snack, a multi-tool and a few flat repair items all fit perfectly.

Dakine

Slayer Knee Pads

The Slayer knee pads are low profile and fit snug enough to keep from moving around too much when pedaling. The protection level is perfect for most trail rides from mild to wild. The fit is a touch small so if you're on the border of one size I suggest sizing up.

Dakine

Traverse Glove

The Dakine Traverse Glove is an excellent option for those who prefer no gloves or excellent natural contact with their bars. While thin and minimalist, the single layer palm holds up well on gritty grips, covers up palm sweat, and keeps your hands well vented on hot summer laps. I'd save this glove for warm days though as the mesh ventilation between fingers brings in lots of air.

Leatt

DBX 5.0 Jersey

The Leatt DBX 5.0 jersey is another sharp option for summer. There's lots of good jerseys out there but the construction, smart placed silicone strip, neck brace compatibility, and abrasion resistant patches sell me on this one. The jersey has a classic enduro or DH look that I like and bright color options. Tall riders or those with long arms may prefer a different jersey, but for those who fit in this shorter cut jersey, you'll love the material and on trail feel of the DBX 5.0.

Raid Knee Pads

Troy Lee Designs Raid Knee Pad - easy purchase choice here. Though not cheap, these are the comfiest knee pads I've worn. I usually wear half this amount of pad, but with the Raid you won't fight these on the way up or encounter bothersome knee pinch and you'll benefit from excellent coverage on the way down. Not for crazy hot days as the material isn't well ventilated but you'll appreciate the adjustable cinch strap on the top making a custom-comfy-fit easy.

Race Face

Stage Short

I'm a fan of all Race Face shorts, but if you're looking for a slim, highly-durable, and longer fit short that doesn't catch on your knees or pads, this is your ticket. The gray looks sharp on and off two wheels and the fabric coating repels water, dirt and beer impressively well.

100%

Rhythm Merino Socks

In the PNW a good sock has to be cool in the summer, warm in the winter, and sometimes warm in the summer if you hit a rogue rainstorm or cold creek. This merino wool sock does a good job at that, and I appreciate it doesn't smell after.*
*I'm told- I don't actually have a sense of smell.

Sprint Short

The Sprint short is a bit of a cross-over, but mostly aimed towards the more gravity-oriented riders. The construction is tough, but still flexible and lightweight enough for pedaling. The pockets on the Sprint short are very minimal - don't plan on pocketing your cell phone - or anything bigger than a small wallet for that matter. If you're looking for something with deeper pockets, I recommend the Ruckus or the Skyline shorts. As always with TLD, the fit and comfort of these shorts are right on the money.

Trigger Tech Tee

I've become a pretty big fan of tech tees over the last couple years. They are simple, lightweight, and comfortable - what's not to like? The Trigger Tech look like a t-shirt, but instead of rotten cotton, it's constructed from a stretchy knit material that wicks away moisture, breathes well, and dries quick. The sublimated graphics are sharp but subtle - I'd feel comfortable wearing this just as a casual shirt.

T-Bone Knee Pads

I'm always on the hunt for comfortable, minimalist knee pads, so I was keen to try out the newly designed T-Bones. Previously the T-Bone was a bulkier pad, but TLD went back to the drawing board to slim things down on the new model. Padding has been reduced to a minimum to shed bulk and weight, but it's still enough to keep your knees decently protected. While I wouldn't use these for full-on DH, they are great for all-mountain riding, and quite comfortable to pedal in. Two adjustable Velcro straps keep the pads firmly in place, I did not experience any slippage when pedaling with these pads on. Overall fit is slightly small, so if you're on the edge, it's best to size up.

Five Ten

Freerider Pro

Upon putting these shoes on, I immediately noticed how LIGHT they feel, especially after wearing my Impacts all last season. The shoe is very minimal, but provides enough protection for most types of riding. There is a reinforced toe box, giving your toes a bit of extra protection should you have a run-in with anything on the trail. These shoes are very comfortable, and as usual, the S1 soles provide a death grip on your pedals. I feel comfortable riding these shoes in anything but the wettest conditions. If the going gets super nasty, I recommend breaking out the Freerider EPS, a fully weather-proof shoe.

A1 MIPS Helmet

The A1 has been my personal go-to helmet, and now with the added protection of MIPS, it's even more of a winner in my book. It is still the most comfortable, and stylish helmet out there. Bonus points for being one of the only helmets in this category with an adjustable visor.

Charger S/S Jersey

I have always been a fan of Dakine's fit with subdued but purposeful styling and their Charger SS Jersey did not disappoint. Ruckus Short

The Troy Lee Designs 3D Chamois included with these shorts, is perfect. It's minimalist, well vented, and features padding in just the right places. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better chamois and the fact that they are included with these awesome shorts just sweetens the deal!. It's nice to have a cell phone pocket large enough that doesn't require a light coating of chamois butter on my iphone in order to get it wedged in there. Also, the adjustable waist straps are nice to loosen things up after those 12oz post ride snacks.

Leatt

3DF 5.0 Knee Pad

These knee pads fit perfect. The mesh backs helped with cooling and prevented any weird creases when my knee was fully bent. I am not sure really how to put the upper strap into words, but I will try. On the outside of the strap there is some furry type material, the strap seemd more strectchy, and the velcro was less abrasive than I am used to. Basically it was really easy to get the strap tension just right without feeling like your knee pads somehow became a tourniquet. The furry stuff kept the strap from rubbing on the bottom of my shorts when pedaling and the level of protection these pads provided was more than adequate for me to downhill in, but I would still feel comfortable pedaling in these on XC rides.

Once on the bike I didn’t think twice about the mid-rise fit. Though these shorts sit a little higher on the hips, the waistband is very comfortable and is equipped with Velcro tabs to fine-tune fit. The longer length on these shorts is perfect for pairing with kneepads.

Five Ten

Freerider Pro - Women's

Five Ten has been my go-to for riding shoes for many years now. I’ve tried many of their offerings, and have to say the Women’s Freerider Pro is an impressive shoe! Though these kicks are on the more minimal side of things, they’re sturdy and supportive. On top of that, they’re slim, lightweight, and have the perfect sole stiffness.

Giro

Montaro MIPS Helmet

The Giro Montaro MIPS helmet offers superb coverage without a bulky feel. Adjustment for proper fit is a breeze with the Roc Loc air system, and the highly vented design keeps your head mighty cool.

Kick Back Relax

We all live for the ride, but there's something to be said for relaxing after a ride with a beer and some friends. We'd like to think that's about as good as a day can get. Stay stylish with quality casual apparel from your favorite brands.
