Norco Range HP Carbon Frame
Norco has been working with high pivot bikes since they launched their Aurum HSP in 2018. The benefits of such a design and the rearward axle path that it provides have been clear; bringing that design over to a bike that needs to get its rider up the hill as well as down. But as bikes with sprightlier amounts of travel—like the Sight—have become more and more capable, Norco realized they could focus the Range into an enduro-race specific bike that cuts no corners.
The new Range has 170mm of rear wheel travel; that’s a lot regardless of what suspension design is used. By employing a high pivot rear end with exactingly designed levels of anti-squat and anti-rise, that travel becomes even more usable and more in-tune with the trail. In moving backward and away from incoming hits, the rear wheel effectively tracks the ground better and allows you to push harder with more confidence.
In combination with Norco’s Ride Aligned™ Design ethos, the new Range is an enduro bike through and through. It’s a bike that imposes absolutely zero limits on descending, with the design chops to empower the rider to comfortably pedal their way to the top of any trail, whether it’s via singletrack or fire road. Ride Aligned™ Design is the idea that you shouldn’t cut corners in creating different size bikes to fit different size riders. By changing the length of both the front and rear of the bike as you move through the size line, Norco ensures that every rider gets the best experience possible.
With the Range, that means a bike that is stable through and through, with all the suspension components tucked into the bottom bracket area of the frame. It means a bike that corners on a dime, because the front end is exactly where you need it to be and the rear end is the correct distance from your feet. It means a bike where the suspension kinematics are built around your weight range, so you don’t wallow in the middle or blow through the end. It means that you’re on a bike that is built from the ground up to go fast.
