The MT900 crank is temporarily being used in place of Shimano's flagship XTR M9100 crank. The M9100 has been delayed due to production issues, and should be available around June or July. In the meantime, this is the best option for those seeking to purchase an XTR M9100 drivetrain.
The MT900 crank is a fairly base-level crank, featuring forged aluminum crank arms, as well as Shimano's new direct-mount chainring interface. Currently this is the only chainring that is compatible with the XTR M9100 chain. There are aftermarket companies such as Race Face, OneUp, and Wolf Tooth working on chainrings compatible with this chain, and when those are available, they will be available for many aftermarket cranks, which will greatly increase crank options for the M9100 drivetrain.
