The Uzzi is one of those cult bikes that has always had a loyal following. Although it's had a couple hiatuses, the Uzzi has been around for over a decade, and it has now returned for 2016 with more travel, bigger wheels, and a whole lot of attitude. The Uzzi is now a bike that seems to defy categorization. With 190mm rear suspension travel and slack geometry, the Uzzi can be built as an aggressive enduro bike with a single crown fork. Or toss a dual crown fork on it, and head to the bike park.
At the heart of the Uzzi is Intense's tried-and-true JS-tuned VPP suspension platform, offering up 7.5" (190mm) of super plush travel. Since this bike can be built a number of different ways, Intense decided to build in an adjustable geometry feature, which effectively alters head angle, seat angle, BB height, chainstay length, and standover height. Although seemingly a complex variety of adjustments, it's actually quite simple - there are two settings, adjustable via the upper shock mounting bolt. In the upper shock bolt setting, the bike will be more downhill oriented with a 64° head angle, 16.9" chainstay, and 13.4" BB height. In the lower shock bolt setting, the head angle is steepened to 65°, chainstay shortened to 16.75", and BB height raised to 13.9". A comprehensive geometry chart is available for your reference below.
Intense opted to go with a Boost 148mm rear swingarm on the Uzzi, keeping things as stiff as possible. For those building this bike yourself, please note that you will need a 12x148mm Boost rear hub. The main frame is constructed using proprietary hydroformed alloy tubing, and in true Intense tradition, this frame is welded and built by hand in Temecula, California. Other details on the frame include a 73mm BSA threaded bottom bracket shell, a 1.5" (49mm) straight head tube, ISCG '05 chainguide tab, and internal dropper post routing. It's also important to note that the Uzzi is a 1X-specific bike, meaning no front derailleur can be mounted.
The Uzzi frame comes stock with a Fox DHX2 coil rear shock, and a 12x148mm bolt-on rear axle. This frame is backed by a two year warranty.
