CushCore is an engineered foam insert that mounts inside a mountain bike tire. It divides the inner volume of the tire in half, with air underneath the tread and the CushCore insert next to the rim. The rim and CushCore work together as a spring and damper – In other words, an Inner-Tire Suspension System. Cushcore absorbs impacts, reduces vibration, and adds lateral stability to the tire. These characteristics translate to a more controlled, comfortable, and faster ride.

This system is designed to be used with tubeless-ready or tubeless converted mountain bike rims and tires. CushCore is compatible with tubeless tire sealants.

A specially designed tubeless air valve is included with each insert. The air valve allows air to move through the valve without becoming obstructed by the insert.

Compared to standard tubeless tires, CushCore provides up to:

  • 50% reduction in vertical impact force
  • 77% reduction in lateral vibrations
  • 58% reduction in longitudinal vibrations

*est. weight includes 2 - 27.5" inserts and valve stems

  • CushCore is compatible with most tubeless tires and rims
  • Fits tire widths 2.1 - 2.5"
  • Fits rims with internal width 22 - 35mm
  • If your wheels are not tubeless ready, rim sealing tape will be required
  • We recommend the use of tubeless tire sealant (such as Stan's®) with CushCore
  • Tire suspension has virtually zero unsprung weight. Only a tiny section of the tire deforms in response to a bump, and the mass of that portion of the tire is negligible. Because it weighs so little, it can accelerate and change directions extremely rapidly.

On the trail, this means that tires are much more efficient than a suspension fork at absorbing fast, sharp, high frequency bumps. The obstacles where chassis suspension components struggle are the same obstacles where tire suspension shines.

The ideal suspension system is CushCore Inner-Tire Suspension paired with effective chassis suspension. With enhanced tire suspension, less compromise is required of the chassis suspension. The fork and shock may be tuned for improved stability and optimal performance on the obstacles where they naturally work best — low frequency, high force impacts. CushCore will deal with everything else.

    Advantages of tire suspension
  • CushCore is made from a unique injection molded polyolefin foam technology. After extensive research and testing on over 50 materials, the CushCore team selected this closed cell foam for its outstanding combination of low weight, durability, and shock absorbing properties. The material is waterproof, compatible with tubless tire sealant, and designed to withstand repeated impacts without damage. CushCore inserts are manufactured in North America to tightly controlled quality control standards.

  • CushCore tubeless air valves are specially designed to work with a CushCore insert. The air passageway is T-shaped, rather than a simple through-hole, which prevents the insert from obstructing air flow through the valve.

The valve body is CNC machined from 6061 T-6 aluminum, anodized black, with a tapered rubber collar permanently bonded at the sealing interface. The valve core can be removed to add tire sealant. A locknut with o-ring seal and valve cap are included.

  • Even with the best protection against flat tires, ultimately a flat is still possible. If a flat does strike, CushCore's superior tire stability, rim protection, and bead locking design enables you to continue charging to the finish line. The bottom line is that CushCore's run-flat capability saves races.
