Fox Racing Shox 34 Factory Step-Cast 29" GRIP-SL - Remote Adjust - 44mm Offset - 2025
The all-new Fox 34 Step-Cast is the lightest 34 ever, designed from the ground up to deliver uncompromising XC race performance with class leading tuneability, chassis stiffness and strength. Tailor made for the rigors of modern XC racing.
New GRIPSL Damper
In the world of endurance racing, every gram counts. With the Grip SL, Fox created a short travel-specific damper that not only reduced weight but could keep up with increasingly demanding World Cup XCO and XCM races. Lockout performance is paramount on the Grip SL; firm for hammering pedals during a sprint while maintaining a smooth blowoff force when you hit a bump with lockout engaged. This reduces fatigue and conserves rider energy. When the compression adjuster is in Middle or Open mode, riders experience a supple stroke in the early stages of the travel with an optimized pedal-to-bump efficiency. Grip SL gives riders the lightest XC damper with unparalleled ride feel.
- 3-Position on-the-fly compression adjust for changing terrain conditions. Remote option available.
- Firm Lockout with smooth blowoff force, reducing bump fatigue when riding locked out.
- 60g Lighter than FIT4 (in 100mm travel).
- Optimized Packaging specific to lightweight FOX forks delivers a weight advantage over all competitors.
Lower leg bypass channels
As a fork compresses, the air volume within the lower legs decreases, increasing air pressure. The more the fork compresses, the more pressure increases, which can have the unintended consequence of preventing full travel. Fox's lower leg channels help alleviate this issue by dramatically increasing air volume within the lower legs and thereby reducing the amount of additional unintended pressure ramping. Another benefit of these channels is that lower leg bath oil is circulated to the upper reaches of the lower legs, continuously lubricating the foam rings and bushings as the fork compresses and extends through its travel.
Negative Air Spacer
There’s a negative air spring volume spacer option in the new 34 SC, you can run it if you want more firm off the top XC race feel, or remove it if you want more of a supple trail feel for Downcountry-style riding. Forks set to 120mm from the factory, don’t come with the volume spacer installed. Fork’s set to 100mm from the factory do come with the volume spacer installed. A 110mm air spring kit is available separately and can be installed with or without the negative volume spacer (sold separately). The lower leg assembly and air spring must be removed in order to in-stall or remove the negative volume spacer. The spacer itself simply clips on to the air spring shaft.
Lower leg arch
The all-new 34 pulls out all the stops, shaving every possible gram while making sure not to compromise the stiffness or strength requirements of modern trail riding and the arch design is to pair perfectly with modern trail bikes. Head tube profiles have grown larger and larger, and fork offsets shorter and shorter. Fox's new arch shape takes this need into account by jutting forward to provide ample headtube clearance at full compression. State-of-the-art computer modeling techniques helped them to create an organic lower leg shape that optimizes stiffness with the absolute minimal amount of material.
Float EVOL
Returning with the same legendary suppleness and longevity, the EVOL air spring in 34 forks now has an enlarged negative air spring to assist with mid-stroke support. New for 2022, the 34 Step-Cast comes with the option to tune the negative air spring with a volume spacer.
