Specialized Status 140

Who says you have to choose a wheel size these days, when you can have multiple? With the new Specialized Status 140 you don’t have to fret over 27.5” versus 29,” thanks to Specialized’s Mixed-Wheel Trail Geometry. While this may sound all fancy, it simply means the Status has a 29” front wheel paired with a 27.5” rear wheel, sometimes referred to as a “mullet” bike – business in the front, party in the back.

This unique pairing of wheel sizes results in a bike that can roll over obstacles with ease thanks to the 29” front end, and a playful, maneuverable 27.5” rear end for roosting every berm. A hard charging M5 aluminum frame with 140mm of FSR suspension and aggressive geometry provides the peace of mind to tackle whatever terrain you throw the Status into, at an extremely competitive price.

Specialized created the Status 140 to be a truly burly, performance-driven quiver of one, happy hitting jumps with style, pedaling your local trails, or even handling some bike park action. Whether you’re a seasoned rider looking for a durable and hard-hitting aluminum frame, or a newer rider looking to step things up a level, you can’t go wrong with the Status 140.

Specialized also offers a 160mm travel version of the Status, with the same features and slightly more aggressive geometry, for riders seeking that extra travel for bigger hits and more forgiveness in technical terrain.

Specialized didn’t skimp on the build kit for the Status, and to complement the FSR suspension platform it comes with a 140mm Fox Float 36 Rhythm fork and Float DPX2 Performance rear shock, a tried and true, hardworking combination. Braking is handled by the excellent SRAM Code R, which are simple and powerful, especially when paired with the stock 200mm rotors.

SRAM’s NX Eagle drivetrain provides smooth and reliable shifting, and an infinitely adjustable X-Fusion seatpost with a Specialized Body Geometry saddle provide comfort on your pedal up to downhill nirvana.

The rest of the build is primarily Specialized components, which are high quality and help keep the cost down so you can get the best value out of your new Status.
