Blake / Buying

You unfortunately had a huge crash in this helmet, what role did it play in protecting you from more serious head injury?

Yeah, I hit my face pretty good actually. I'd say the helmet did it's job protecting the upper potion of my head, however it's not a full face so it didn't protect my lips much. But I definitely say it played a big role in limiting any serious concussion symptoms.

Smith Forefront 2 Review

BK / Marketing

"When given the choice between a budget helmet and the Forefront 2, more often than not, I find myself reaching for the Forefront. Given the option, I am going to grab the most protective helmet possible every time. With the potential of concussions and traumatic brain injuries that mountain biking presents, I will take any advantage, no matter how marginal, when it comes to protecting my head. The fact that the Forefront 2 is immensely comfortable only makes that choice easier."

What are your favorite features of this helmet?

I love its breakaway visor. If you crash or drop the helmet, it just pops off and can be easily snapped back into place, unlike some other visors that have mounting screws. There is plenty of space under the visor for glasses and goggles as well.

For being more budget-friendly, how would you say the Tactic 4 compares to other more expensive options?

This helmet may not have FidLock clasps or fancy color ways, but it’s just as safe and comfortable as any expensive helmet I’ve previously used.

How comfortable are you wearing the TLD A3 for longer rides?

So I’m pretty convinced that different brands work for different peoples head shapes, and the TLD helmets fit my head shape perfectly. One helmet that’s comfortable for one person may not be comfortable for another. I’ve owned A1, A2, and now the latest, the A3.

How does the TLD D4 perform for big days in the bike park?

I love it. It isn't as light as some "enduro" full face helmets but the added protection is worth it. It does great in the bike park and I've even worn it on some fire road pedals without any issue."
