For the steep, technical trails we typically ride, we prioritize grip and damping over outright rolling speed. Most of us at Fanatik run MaxxGrip up front for maximum traction and control.
Out back, MaxxTerra provides plenty of traction and damping with a better balance of rolling speed and durability.

For the aggressive riding we typically see here in the PNW, our go-to is EXO+ up front with DoubleDown out back. EXO+ keeps the front end lighter and compliant, while DoubleDown adds extra support and impact protection where the rear tire tends to take the most abuse.
Adjust for your riding: Lighter riders or those prioritizing pedaling efficiency may prefer EXO+ front and rear, while heavier or more aggressive riders may prefer DoubleDown front and rear. For dedicated downhill and bike park use, step up to DH casing.
